Coldwell aims to offer one of the most flexible affordable packages available, principally for disabled and disadvantaged groups. We can cater for a wide range of needs and programmes.
Who can stay?
- Programmes can be tailored to meet educational, leisure and physical needs.
Maybe you are a teacher, from a school for pupils with special needs, looking for an arts/crafts week with a professional artist. Perhaps you are a Scout master looking for a multi-activity holiday for a group of scouts that includes one boy that has a disability. Are you a youth leader from an inner city club who is looking for a place to run your own programme?
- Coldwell can cater for all these needs and more.
Location
- The seclusion and accessibility of the centre makes it an ideal environment for a residential group experience.
Once at the centre, looking out over the reservoir and moorland, it is difficult to believe that we are only 3 miles from Nelson town centre and junction 13 of the M65.
Facilities
- All groups have exclusive use of this converted 18th Century Inn lending itself to a home from home atmosphere.
Coldwell Activity Centre provides accommodation for up to 21 in five bedrooms. Each group has full use of the games room, lounge, fully accessible bathing facilities and kitchen.
We have many facilities, which enable the enjoyment of people with a wide range of needs. Wheelchair accessible bathing, sleeping facilities and a stair lift all add to making it more accessible, whilst the art work displays have been designed to be appreciated by people with a range of abilities.
The grounds include many attractive features that have been built by our centre users. This also includes a wheelchair accessible woodland sculpture trail which visitors are encouraged to add to, with their own creation.
The helpful and friendly staff are happy to help you design your programme and encourage pre-residential visits.
Food
- Groups can choose to be catered for, or be self-catering. Our catered for option allows groups to request meal times to suit their own programmes. Please ask for further details.
Activities
- We are happy to organise your programme for you at your request. Some activities will be provided by ourselves, others will be delivered by outside providers enabling us to provide an almost endless range of activities.
From art workshops to magic and horse riding, water sports to pond dipping. Ask for advice or the full list. Our artist in residence is one of our exiting new additions to the programme that started in autumn 2001.
Groups can choose one of two styles of art/ craft session.
Continuing projects that are all designed to be appreciated by people with a range of needs.
Added value -
- Increasing awareness of needs of disabled people
- Enabling people to make a positive long lasting contribution to their community
Maybe if that all sounds too much you may just want to relax in your lounge and take in the views.
