How can I help?

If you are interested in helping the work of Mvumi Hospital we would be very grateful.
Donations
All
donations no matter how small are gratefully received and the money used to further the work of Mvumi Hospital and to ease the suffering of the people of Tanzania. Cheques should be made payable to the Friends of Mvumi and sent to Friends of Mvumi, 62 Brooklawn Drive, Withington, Manchester, M20 3GZ, United Kingdom. Further information can be obtained from The Friends of Mvumi. How will my money be spent?
The Friends of Mvumi is run on a purely voluntary basis so that overheads are kept to a minimum. The majority of money donated to the Friends directly benefits the running of the hospital and will be spent on
special projects or in the general running of the hospitalEquipment and supplies which are required at Mvumi
If you work in a hospital or medical environment and have serviceable but redundant equipment which may be of use we would like to hear from you. Here is a list of some of the things which are needed in Mvumi at the moment.
Computers IBM compatible 386 and 486 processors preferred with Word and Excel the preferred software.
Dot matrix printers compatible with the above computers.
Catheters (especially sizes 16 and 18)
Urine bags
IV and blood giving sets, syringes, needles, cannulae, NG tubes, examination and surgeons gloves
The hospital needs hospital quality bed sheets (length 2.5m) for the wards. Preferably in dark colours such as green or brown. Five hundred and sixty sheets would equip the entire hospital.
One hundred and sixty two bednets are required for the Medical, Surgical, Ophthalmic and Dysentery Wards.
We require blankets for the 280 hospital beds.
Indelible marker pens or silver nitrate solution are needed for marking linen.
There is a constant need for up to date text books and teaching aids for use in the nurses and midwives, and clinical officers training schools. If you would like to donate recent medical and nursing text books they can be sent via World Lifeline Relief Services (see below).
In most circumstances, however, the hospital is unable to pay for shipping costs to Tanzania. It would therefore be useful in considering the donation of such gifts to make provision for shipping costs. If you have bulky equipment or books which you would like to send to Mvumi you can obtain shipping details in the U.K.
