Mvumi Hospital: Status, staffing and management
Mvumi Hospital (
address here) is a voluntary agency hospital run under the auspices of the Anglican Diocese of Central Tanganyika. The hospital is registered with and receives grants in aid from the Tanzanian Ministry of Health.The Hospital Board is chaired by the Bishop of the Diocese of Central Tanganyika, the Rt. Reverend Mdimi Mhogolo and the Secretary of the Board is the Medical Superintendent, Dr. James Ng'wandu.

The Board meets 4 times a year to make major policy decisions and oversee the work of the Hospital Management Committee.
Mvumi Hospital is under the authority of the Diocese of Central Tanganyika (DCT), its parent organisation which reports to the Diocesan Synod. The hospital headquarters are on-site at Mvumi while DCT is administered from its Head Office, Mackay House in Dodoma.
Mvumi hospital and its associated training schools employ 151 people. The majority of staff are diocesan employees, but there are also 30 trained staff including doctors, nurses, and laboratory personnel who are seconded from the Ministry of Health. In addition, the government promises grants to fund the salaries of 53 trained staff.
The majority of employees are Tanzanian nationals (96%), but there are a small number of expatriates: at present 3 doctors, 1 biochemist and 1 electronics engineer. A management committee consisting of heads of departments and training schools and a union representative meets on a monthly basis.
The hospital has representation on the District Health Management Team and the community health department liaises with local government health officers and local village committees.
