TRIP REPORTS

Dive trip to Dominica, Castle Comfort Lodge - May 2004 (Part Three)

After a good nights sleep and an excellent breakfast we were ready to take on whatever problems our extended journey home was going to throw at us.

An hour later after a phone call we were on our way back to the airport. Back at the Caribbean Star check-in we were told that there was'nt a BA flight from Antigua to London until Tuesday (this was Monday) but there was a BA flight from Barbadoes later that afternoon we could catch. They then proceeded to supply us with tickets from Antigua via a stop-off at St Lucia to Barbadoes including arranging for our BA tickets for the flight we had missed to be transfered to the new Barbadoes to London flight.

Ironically on route to Barbadoes we flew back over the island of Dominica (deja vu). Upon arrival we were met by a Caribbean Star representative that escorted us to the BA Check-in and waited whilst we completed the formalities (he told us he was there just in case there were any issues that we might need assistance with). Thanking him we went off for a meal at the airport restaurant while we waited for the flight. In total it took us seven flights to get home.

As the closure of the airport which subsequently caused us to miss our connecting homeward flight was in no way the fault or responsibility of Caribbean Star we were immensely impressed with the courteous and helpful service that they gave to two stranded travellers. At no time did we have to pay out a single penny extra. There is no doubt in our minds that it was 'Above and beyond the call of duty' for which we were exceedingly grateful. We have already booked our next vacation flights to St Vincent with Caribbean Star, confident in the service that they provide. Well done Caribbean Star.

In conclusion the Nature Island of Dominica really lives up to it's name and reputation. The flora, fauna and scenery is wonderful. The reefs and marine life are very healthy and the diving is good. As far as Dive Dominica and the Castle Comfort Lodge are concerned, what can I say that I have not already mentioned. The dive operation is professional and the staff are helpful. The Lodge is comfortable, staff polite, friendly and the food is great. Will we go back in the future? Definitely.
