Wenceslas Square, the Old Town Square and the Charles Bridge serve as the three main navigation points for tourists. The bridge links the Lesser Town and the Castle above, with the Old and New Towns.

The centre comprises five main tourist areas: Hradcany (the Castle precinct), with Mala Strana (Lesser Town) at its foot; across the Karluv most (Charles Bridge) lies Stare Mesto (Old Town), with Josefov (the Jewish Quarter) to the north, and, to the south, Nove Mesto (New Town).

The ‘Royal Road’ – once the route of major processions and now the main tourist route across Prague – begins in the Old Town at the Powder Gate in náme stí Republiky, and runs along Celetna to the Old Town Square; from there it continues from the lower left exit (past the Astronomical Clock) and winds along Karlova to the Charles Bridge. Crossing the bridge, it then follows Mostecka through Mala Strana to the Baroque square at Malostranske name sti. Exiting at the upper right of the square, it follows Nerudova, turns right on Zamecka, and left on Zamecke schody for the long stairs leading to the Castle.

From nam esti Republiky, with its magnificent Municipal House, Na prikope leads to Vaclavske nam esti (Wenceslas Square), the hub of shopping and nightlife; carrying on across the bottom of the square, 28 ríjna leads to the National Theatre.

There is no area where museums are concentrated; they are scattered throughout the city, and even the suburbs.
