Cottage Farm Dads

The Dads don't have the energy to train! The Dads play in the Indoor Leisure League on Sundays at Wilnecote Sports Centre, well we turn up anyway!

Squad:

Martin Badger, John Barber, Shaun Clements, James Dyer, Kevin Dyer, Steve Gaunt, Matt Holyland, Steve Sargeant, Danny Whitehouse, Steve Williams,

Results:

16/03/2003 - In the last game of the "season", the Dads finished off with another win against F.C. Farcelona. Goals from Williams 2 and Sargeant gave the Dads the points to ensure a third place finish, not bad for a bunch of old uns!

09/03/2003 - Another good win for the Dads against third-placed Bimblers. Straight from the kick-off the Dads got into the game and dominated. Four goals from Steve Williams gave the Dads a 4 - 1 win, but the whole team played well and restricted the Bimblers attack. This victory takes the Dads back up to third place.

02/03/2003 - A slightly stronger squad this week, which saw the Dads chalk up another win. A very good 6 - 0 win in fact against Inter Adders. Four goals from Steve Williams, and singles from James Dyer and Matt Holyland saw the Dads home.

23/02/2003 - Down to the bare minimum again, must be, Steve Gaunt played. Must say the first half was the most disappointing of the season. The Dad`s took on bottom of the league Hurricanes who have only amassed one point all season. Going into half time 3-1 down we did not look like we wanted to play. However, second half together with hard work and a little pride, Dad`s showed their Class and Fitness? Two from James Dyer, one from Matt Holyland and six from Steve Williams giving the Dad`s a flattering 9-4 win.

16/02/2003 - A disappointing performance from the Dads this week, going down 2 - 3 to Cannon Fodder. The 3 conceded goals were either bad defending or rather fortunate on Fodder's behalf and a penalty. The Dads scored 2 good ones through Steve Williams and James Dyer.

09/02/2003 - Down to six players again, but I must say that this was the best performance of the season against a team who beat us two weeks ago! Everyone worked well with goals from James Dyer and the Most improved player of the season (in fitness as well!) Matt Holyland. Steve Williams chipped in with five to give the Dads a 7-1 convincing win. Let`s hope we can continue this form and Ruth let`s Martin `Chopper` Badger back soon!!

02/02/2003 - The Dads, in a game where they were trying to consolidate their 4th place, unfortunately had to field a weakened team again, and went down 5 - 2 to Strikeforce. Though they created plenty of chances and converted two of them through Matt Holyland and James Dyer, the Dads were never strong enough defensively which cost them dear

26/01/2003 - In a bad tempered and bruising encounter, the weakened Dads team went down 2 - 3 against league leaders Braziliant. Veteran Martin Badger's 2 goals were not enough to give the Dads the victory in a game where the opposition had a player sent off for persistent fouling.

19/01/2003 - A better performance from the Dads against mid table Legends. They played some very good football going forward to record a 7 - 1 win. Goalscorers were Steve Sargeant 3, Steve Willaims 2, Martin Badger and a James Dyer penalty.

12/01/2003 - Another table topping game where third placed Dads played 4th placed Norfolk Chance. Without a couple of players, the Dads were always a yard off the pace and suffered accordingly. Against a hard working team, the Dads struggled to play their football and lost 2 - 6. the scorers were Steve Williams and James Dyer.

05/01/2003 - A new year, but still the same result, the Dads carried on where they left off last year with another convincing win against 5th placed No Nonsense. The 3rd placed Dads started well and kept the pressure on with some good football. Goals from Steve Williams 4, veteran Martin Badger 3, and Danny Whitehouse gave the Dads a 8 - 3 win.

22/12/2002 - A different couple of players missing this week, but the Old Codgers came through in the end. After starting very slowly, the Dads had to come back from 3 - 1 down to eventually win 6 - 3 with some good play from everyone involved from John Barber in goal right up to Steve Sargeant, and Steve Williams and James Dyer up front. The veteran defenders Martin Badger and Kevin Dyer (about 90 years between them) weren't bad either!!! Steve Williams 3, Martin Badger, James Dyer and Steve Sargeant were the scorers.

15/12/2002 - With a couple of players missing, the Dads played out a herd fought match and came back to earn a point in a 1- 1 draw. In a very tight and very even game, the Dads had to work hard against a good Bimblers team to share the spoils. James Dyer  was the scorer.

08/12/2002 -    Another team on a roll here with a fourth win out of five to go third in the league (we think!). A very competent performance by all the team as they played the ball around to gain the points with a 3 - 1 win. A penalty was the only way that the Dads defence was breached, and with the return of the very veteran Martin Badger who scored 2 and Steve Williams adding to his growing tally the Dads ran out comfortable winners.

01/12/2002 - Who on earth starts football matches at 10:00 o'clock on a  Sunday night, the Dads that's who! Despite the daft time, the Dads put up a good performance to come from 0 - 1 down to win 6 - 1. The Hurricanes' keeper had a fabulous first half  to keep the Dads at bay, but in the second half, the Dads superior fitness told (if you believe that you'll believe anything!) and they came back to put the Hurricanes to the sword. 5 goals from Steve Williams and one from Matt Holyland saw the Dads home.

24/11/2002 - The depleted Dads again played well going forward, and again struggled a bit defensively. But they did enough against Fodder to come out 7 - 5 winners with goals from Steve Williams 3, Matt Holyland, Steve Sargeant and James Dyer.

17/11/2002 -    The Dads, again depleted by unavailabilities, went down 5 - 7 to Svens Bhoys. Playing well going forward, the Dads struggled defensively. Goals from Steve Williams 3, Steve Sargeant and Matt Holyland were not enough on the day.

10/11/2002 - The Dads, at the start of the new campaign, dominated the game and came out 5 - 1 winners against Strikeforce, with Steve Williams scoring all 5.

03/11/2002 - The Dads, in the final match of this "season", beat Legends 4 - 2 with goals from James Dyer (2), and two from Steve Williams.

13/10/2002 - The Dads, yet again depleted by unavailability, went down 1 - 4 to sixth placed Cobol, with Sarge scoring the only goal.

06/10/2002 - The Dads with one or two players back, should really have done better than this as they went down 3 - 4 to Adders. Goals from Matt Holyland, Steve Williams and a penalty from James Dyer were not enough as the Dads were always just behind, and so it finished.

29/09/2002 - The Dads were yet again severely depleted by absentees???? And although the display was disappointing in places, they gave second-placed Reipers a run for their money. Steve Williams 4 and Martin Badger 2 were the scorers in a 6 - 9 defeat.

15/09/2002 - Unfortunately, the Dads could only field 4 players, and consequently were always going to struggle against high-flying UFB. Matt Holyland and James Dyer gave them a 2 -1 half-time lead, but the lack of a player told and they fell away in the second half to lose 6 - 2.

08/09/2002 - The Dads put in a competent performance to chalk up a 4 - 1 win. Goals from Martin Badger 2, Matt Holyland and James Dyer  gave the Dads the points in a performance where they were rarely troubled.

01/09/2002 - The Dads again not up to full strength, and despite playing some very good football, went down 1 - 4, Martin Badger getting the goal.

18/08/2002 - The Dads, despite going 0 - 3 down after 5 minutes with a combination of bad play and bad luck, came back superbly to win 7 - 3 with some very good play and good defence. Martin Badger stole the headlines with 5, with one each from Matt Holyland and James Dyer.

11/08/2002 - The Dads were again unlucky to go down by the odd goal 2 - 1 in a very good game against third-placed Norfolk & Chance. With only one substitute, the old timers stuck to the task really well and conceded the second goal in the very last minute. Martin Badger scored the goal.

04/08/2002 - The Dads, fielding a stronger team than of late, went down 1 - 0 to a freak goal, when an opposition player blocked the keeper's throw out when he appeared to be in the box.

21/07/2002 - The Dads, yet again decimated by unavailabilities went down 4 - 1 to Adders after leading through an own goal. Wher have all our players gone?

14/07/2002 - A very depleted team lost 6 - 3 on Sunday against the second placed team Riepers. Martin Badger, Shaun Clements and Martin Wooding were the scorers.

07/07/2002 - Only 5 players were available for this tie and the fact that there were no subs told as the Dads lost 2 - 1 to Strikeforce, Martin Wooding getting the goal.

30/06/2002 - The Dads lost 3 -  1 to UFB, Martin Wooding scored the only goal.

23/06/2002 - The Dads produced a very good performance to beat Cannon Fodder 7 - 2 in a convincing display. 4 goals from Martin Wooding, 2 from Martin Badger and one from Kevin Wood gave the Dads the points in one of their best ever displays.

16/06/2002 - Two goals from Martin Wooding were not enough to bring the Dads back from 3 - 0 down at half time to win. The Hurricanes goalkeeper performed heroics to keep the Dads out despite some very good play.
