Reports:

19/11/2006 - Tamworth Lionesses 2 - 2 Cottage Farm Ladies (0 - 3 on penalties)

A tale of two keepers? Rangers started the brighter, and should have had a commanding lead by half-time, but only had one goal to show for all their pressure, a volley by Kate Harker from the 18 yard line after some great work by Anna Kelly and Vicky Cobb. This was quickly cancelled out by Tamworth.

The second half was more even, but Rangers managed to take the lead, with a 25 yard strike from Vicky Roe. Again, Tamworth pulled themselves level. The game went to extra time, and Rangers should have had another two goals, except for two brilliant saves from the Tamworth keeper. The match was decided on penalties, and it was now the Rangers Keeper, Alex Dockray's turn to keep Tamworth out, with two great saves. The penalty scorers for Cottage Farm were Vicky Cobb, Vicky Roe and Anna Kelly.

22/10/2006 - Coseley Town 2 - 4 Cottage Farm Ladies

This game only just survived the weather, and made very heavy going, making good football very difficult. Rangers managed to keep their impressive away record going though, through sheer graft. Coseley made it difficult for most of the game, and it needed only good defending from player of the match, Letty Turner-Rowley, kept them out. Goals from Vicky Cobb, Zoe Pugh, Kayleigh Hewitt and Hannah Granville eventually seeing Rangers home, but not very dry.

15/10/2006 - Florence Ladies 0 Cottage Farm Ladies 0

After a run of indifferent performances, Rangers went to Stoke, knowing they would have a difficult game against high flying Florence. This performance was probably the best they have produced for a long time. In an evenly balanced game, Rangers should have been 2 goals to the good by half time, but were unable to convert their chances. Florence put Rangers under pressure more in the second half, but good defending from Letty Turner-Rowley and Steph Parker and an excellent penalty save from Alex Dockray, kept them at bay. A great team performance and probably a fair result on the day. Rangers players of the match: Nat Davis and Kate Harker.

24/09/2006 - APS Ladies 1 Cottage Farm Rangers Ladies 3

Cottage Farm Ladies travelled to Stoke this week, hoping to keep their good start to the season going. They didn't disappoint, although the state of the pitch didn't help. Zoe Pugh opened the scoring on 9 minutes, with a 20 yard lob shot into the corner of the net, leaving the advancing keeper completely stranded. Hannah Granville then made it 2 nil after 38 minutes, with a stunning 30 yard drive.
Rangers then eased off after half time, which allowed APS back into the game after 60 minutes. Rangers then stepped up a gear and after some desperate defending, an APS defender upended Vicky Cobb in the penalty area, and taking it herself, gave Rangers a deserved third goal. Rangers will be away next week to an improved Atherstone side, the third local derby in 4 games. Players of the Match: Letty Turner-Rowley and Vicky Roe

10/09/2006    Tamworth Lionesses 0 - 3 Cottage Farm Ladies

After last week's poor performance, the Ladies needed a good convincing display and delivered one. Against a very gritty opposition, Cottage Farm stood up to be counted, won their challenges and looked to be positive. The played some good football and looked to pass the ball around which they did and managed to open up the Lionesses defence fairly regularly. After missing a couple of very good chances which were put narrowly wide, Cottage Farm took the lead when Zoe Pugh latched onto a through ball and tucked the ball into the bottom corner. The Lionesses came back and had a couple of good chances themselves, one of which hit the post, but Cottage Farm stood firm. The second half  saw Cottage Farm's defence tighten up and along with some good work from the midfield and some lively work up front saw them begin to take control. The hard work paid dividends when a precise through ball from Vicky Roe put Zoe Pugh through who fired home first time. The game was effectively won when Vicky Cobb received the ball in the centre of the field, turned inside her marker and curved the ball into the top of the net for the third. A much better performance all round from every single player, every one of them played well and the hard work they put in along with the fact they looked to play good football meant they got their just reward. Players of the Match: a difficult decision but probably Anna Kelly and Nat Davis.

03/09/2006    Tamworth 1 - 1 Cottage Farm Ladies

In the opening game of the season, this was rather a forgettable game. After a bright start, Cottage put together a good move possibly the best of the game, when a good ball from midfield allowed Zoe Pugh to put in Kayleigh Hewitt in on goal to produce a clinical finish. However, Cottage then seemed to go off the boil and allowed Tamworth onto them. Tamworth did have a couple of good chances which keeper Alex Dockray dealt with. The second half followed a similar pattern with both sides not playing a great deal of good football but a lot of long balls. Tamworth got a deserved equalizer when a corner was not cut out. Not a good start by Cottage but a good determined display by Player of the Match Anna Kelly who has returned from a very long injury layoff and steady displays by Steph Parker and Vicky Roe in defence and by sub Leanne Baker. I'm sure there will be better to come in the following weeks. Player of the Match: Anna Kelly
