Ever looked at a book
dealer's catalogue and wondered if a particular title would
be of interest? Even worse, ever bought a hunting book on
the strength of a recommendation made in a review only to
discover that the reviewer knew nothing of the chase? This
page seeks to put that right.

Mr. Hooker is an excellent
writer and his stories are never mean, but manage to poke
fun nicely.....(often at himself). While many of the people
and places mentioned are American, there are some lovely
stories about shooting in England....... If you find reading
too much trouble he sells a CD of the book which, given his
lovely Tennesee accent, should just make the book better.
(Review from Mary - thank you).

Molly Keane began her
writing career under the pseudonym M.J. Farrell. A member of
a Anglo-Irish family she recounts in "ripping-yarn" style
aspects of what must have been her own youth. The hunting
content is slight but the theme runs through the book which
is a charming and innocent evocation of a lost
age.

In these politically correct
times of ours Robin Page, a man with over 30 previous books
to his credit, could not find a publisher for this one! So,
with the help of a couple of hundred subscribers, he
published it himself. The result? A cogent defence of
hunting that is beholden to nobody and pulls no
punches.

A genuine classic. Sassoon
uses the form of a novel to decribe aspects of his own
youth. With wickedly amusing insights he never fails to
describe the way in which the sport runs in the veins of the
fox hunting man.
