Harry
Cragg
Originally
from Cumbria, I have lived in Canterbury for the past
37 years and am a former Reader in Inorganic Chemistry
and Dean of Natural Sciences at the University of Kent
at Canterbury.
I aim to improve the quality of life for the residents
in St Stephen’s and the District and to improve
relations between Town, Gown and Mitre. I am married
with two sons and one grandson. I am currently a
member of the Rotary Club of Canterbury and a member
of the CHEK Committee.
I was Chairman of the Governors of Kent Institute of
Art and Design for 14 years and a former member of St
Stephen’s Parochial Church Council. I was elected to
Canterbury City Council in May 1999 but have
previously served as a Kent County Councillor and
chaired the further Education Sub-committee.
Currently I chair the Overview Committee and am a
member of the Local Plan Steering Group. I chaired the
Flood Scrutiny Group as well as the Best Value Reviews
on Street Scene, Pre-Housing Tenancy and Museums and
Galleries.
When time permits I enjoy watching sport, going to the
theatre, viewing exhibitions and collecting prints. I
am also an expert on Bunbury.
