I have lived in Herne Bay for 50 years and have been
involved in many local voluntary organisations during
that time. I run my own IT Consultancy, based in the
town. I think that it is vital that council tax payers
get value for money, and that people are being
listened to and having their problems addressed.
I would like to see more help given to voluntary
organisations, as they are often the most
cost-effective way of providing services. It is
important that any future housing development avoids
the use of green belt land as far as possible, and is
accompanied by improvements in infrastructure (e.g.
roads, drainage, schools, hospitals) as well greater
provision of public services to cater for the growing
population. I also think it important that the train
service to London is improved, to help commuters and
day-trippers and encourage employers to locate in the
area.
