The Dance
Pole is the easiest pole available to install.
Supplied
already cut to the correct length and with its unique tensioning foot
already attached, it is just a matter of drilling a single pilot hole
in the ceiling, screwing the top mount in - and bob's your uncle!
Our
full installation instructions
When
you first receive your pole:
- The
pole assembly comprises the following parts. You should check
that you have each of them:
·
One pole with integral foot assembly – length to suit your
ceiling height
·
One ceiling fitting – a circular aluminium disk
·
One ceiling fitting screw – 3” long wood screw
· One dummy smoke detector
- Installation
begins with identifying the ceiling rafter/joist onto which you
attach the ceiling fitting. This can achieved by use
of a “stud finder” (available at most good hardware
stores) or by tapping the ceiling lightly and noting the change
of tone caused
by the ceiling rafter/joist
- Having identified the joist, drill a small pilot hole (3mm
diameter) into the ceiling, 2 inches deep
- Insert the ceiling fitting screw into the ceiling fitting on
the side with a countersunk recess for the screw head.
This
will
naturally
orientate the fitting so that the end with the larger diameter
will be against the ceiling when installed.
- Fix
the ceiling fitting onto the ceiling by screwing the ceiling
fitting screw into the pilot hole. Screw it in until
the fitting
will no longer turn by hand.
- The
optional dummy smoke detector has a hole in it that is designed to fit
over the ceiling fitting, Place it into position and
lightly mark its position onto the ceiling.
- Remove
the mounting ring from the detector and secure the it onto the
ceiling in the position indicated by the
lightly
drawn
marks
- Refit
the smoke detector onto the mounting ring
- FINISHED – at this point you have finished the permanent
installation.
To mount the pole, follow the instructions below:
- Remove
the smoke detector (if fitted) from the ceiling, leaving behind the mounting
ring.
- Locate
the top of the Dance Pole onto the ceiling fitting – the
inside diameter of the pole should be a close fit onto the ceiling
fitting
- Move
the pole so that it becomes vertically aligned below the ceiling
fitting.
- Standing
back from the pole and aligning it by eye or
by the use of a spirit level if one is available to do this.
- Tighten
the screw foot adjustment until the pole will no longer rotate
when
tested by hand.
- Test
the pole by using both hands and firmly shaking it in its mid section – it
should not move!! If it does then check the vertical alignment
and re-tighten.
- POLE
MOUNTING IS NOW COMPLETE
To remove the pole:
- Loosen
the foot adjustment, Slide the foot away from you and hold the pole
as it disconnects from the ceiling fitting
- Replace
the smoke detector
- Store
the pole horizontally if possible to reduce the likelihood on injury
should it fall
That's all there is to it!
