Bonifatu to Calenzana

Todays walk was inland from Corte, and involved taking a private coach to the start point at Bonifatu (536m), which is at the end of the road that runs up the Figarella valley. It is a start point for a number of walks, there is a car park and a gite d'etape that serves refreshments. Todays walk took in a stretch of the Mare e Monti Nord long distance footpath. From Bonifatu the route took us down into the Figarella valley, and then climbed steadily up to a Bocca Corsa col at 581m. Shortly after the col the path joins the GR20, down to the village of Calenzana, which is at the start point of the GR20. We had a drink in the Bar Royal in the Place d'Eglise, and looked round the churces, before taking the coach back to Calvi.
