A wet day to start - in fact it had started to rain just after we arrived on the Saturday and continued to rain nearly continuously until sometime on the Wednesday! For our first walk we decided to do a walk to Ristis in the Brunni walking area. Ristis (1657m) is reachable by cable car from Engelberg and has a large restaurant/cafe and a summer toboggan run.

We walked through the village to Buechli and then took the path towards Horbis. A pleasant path was taken up through forest onto a pasture at Reid. From Reid we walked across to Ristis then up the Ruckweg to Rigidalstafel (1745m) before returning directly on a path through fields to Reid. From Reid we walked down the hillside on forest tracks and paths via Bord to Buechli and Engelberg.
