Our first sunny day - a delight - but a gentle walk as Jackie was none too well. Today we woke up to bright
blue skies and snow down to c 1700-1800 m. We took the Brunni Cable Car from Engelberg to Ristis (12 CHF each
1/2 price return). From Ristis we decided to do one of the themed walks the
Brunnipfad. There are a number of
large information boards along the way and some excellent viewpoints.
Starting from the Ristis Cable Car station (1607m) we followed the path uphill to the viewing point at
Rosenbold. From here the path flattened out and we walked along to the
Brunni Hut (1860m) and the small lake of
the Harzlisee. Around the shore of the lake is a "bare foot" walk or
Kitzelpfad. This is associated
with Kneipp Theraphy and apparantly walking barefoot through cold water over pebbles is good for you.
The paths at this altitude had been covered by snow but this was melting rapidly, We continued on to
Holztein(1186m), Jackie waited here while I did a short diversion up the Rugghubel path to a point c 2000m
before returning. We then walked down the path back to Ristis. I had a ride on the Rodelbahn (Summer Toboggan)
run before we had drinks and a large dish of
meringues and cream at the Ristis Restaurant before taking the cable car back down to Engelberg.
