You are at: Home > Fuschl walks > Fuschlsee Circular
The first walk of the holiday was around the lake Fuschlsee. This was a circular walk from Fuschl of about 7 miles. There is some road walking but it is mainly along paths and tracks. It isn't a totally flat walk and there are some ups and downs along the way. We walked it in the anticlockwise direction.
Starting from Fuschl we walked along the path on the north side of the lake. This takes you through pleasant woodland, there are no public bathing areas on this side. You then have to cut inland a little way before rejoining the lake at its most westerly point. Here is the Hofer Naturstrandbad, a very pleasant natural beach where people can swim in the lake and sunbathe. There are toilets and changing rooms provided and in season the cafe is open. It wasn't sunny enough for sunbathing but we did make use of the picnic tables to have our lunch on.
Leaving the bathing area we then walked back to Fuschl along the southern shore of the lake past the Schloss Fuschl a posh hotel. Refreshment possibilities on this side of the lake can be found at the Schloss Fischerei (smokehouse) cafe and at the Holzknechtstube. There are a couple more bathing areas on this side of the lake as well. On reaching Fuschl we had afternoon tea and cakes at the Cafe Mozart before returning to our hotel.
