The weather had been improving since we arrived in Austria and it was also getting a lot warmer. Today we decided to do a higher level walk using the Zwolferhorn cable car. We caught the bus to St Gilgen and then the cable car up the Zwolferhorn. This is a good walking area and there are a number of paths leading back to St Gilgen or Fuschl.
We did a short 3 mile walk following the Panoramaweg, this is a high level "balcony walk" with excellent views and not too much ascent and descent. The path takes you south towards the small peak of Pillstein (1478m) before heading back north to the top of the Zwolferhorn (1522m). Note there is a direct way up the Zwolferhorn from the col south of the peak but we returned to the cable car station and took the path up from there.
We were quite surprised to find large patches of snow on the path and we got Dennis's mum across safetly. We took the cable car down and then the bus back to Fuschl where we had afternoon tea at the Rosengarten cafe (highly recommended !).
