Gipperkapelle and Kasereck (1900m)

You are at: Home > Heiligenblut walks > Gipperkapelle and Kasereck

Today it was cold and wet, with snow above above 2100m. So we delayed our start and looked around the Hohe Tauern National Park Information Centre in the village. In the afternoon the rain wasn't as heavy, so we did short walk, which turned out to be very pleasant. We picked up path 2 up to Hohe Wand. There were good views of Heiligenblut looking back. We then walked along a tarmac road for a while, before leaving on a path that took us a short distance to the Gipperkappele - well worth a look inside. There is a path through the forest is not shown on the map, which took us to the Guttalalm. We then walked across meadows and up to the Kasereck, which is on the GrossGlockner Alpine Road. The Kasereck is a large building which has a cafe, and occasional cheese making demonstrations. From Kasereck we returned to Heiligenblut via paths 4 and 6.
