Mayrhofen - Gerlossteinwand

You are at: Home > Mayrhofen walks > Gerlossteinwand

We took the train from Mayrhofen to Ramsau/Hippach, and then walked from the railway station to the Ramsberg Lift. This is a old single seater chair lift and takes about 20 minutes to get to the top station at the Sonnalm. A delightful ride.

From the Sonnalam (1350m) we took path 8, which was partially on a forest track, and wound its way to the top station of the Gerlosstein Cable Car. From here we took the path which climbs up the west ridge to the summit of the Gerlossteinwand 2166m. After a break at the summit we walked on the ridge path to the col just below the Freikopf, before descending down to the Sonnalm via the Kotahornalm, returning to Ramsau via the chairlift.
