Mayrhofen Isskogel

The Zillertal Active cards that we bought covered a number of lifts in the Gerlos valley, a major side valley off the main Ziller valley. The bus service is not that frequent though, there is bus from Mayrhofen at 8.30am and busses back from the valley at c 3pm and 5.30pm, the journey is about an hour. We picked a walk from one of the pamphlets that was down as a 4hr walk but we ended up walking very quickly to get back for the 3pm bus!

The walk we decided to do was the Isskogel and Krumbachtal using the Isskogel lift. We took the service bus from Mayrhofen to the Isskogel valley station and the cable car to the top station. There is a road then a good track to the summit of the Isskogel. From the summit we descended to a small reservoir to pick up a road which led down to the head of the Krumbachtal. From here it was a lovely path through this valley before picking up a track taking us back to the valley station for the bus home.
