Aitana (1549m).

Aitana is the highest point in the Alicante mountains. It is situated in the Sierra Aitana, the ridge south of the Sierra Serralla. The start of the walk was the Font de Partagat, about 4km from the village of Bonifatu. From Partagat (1020m) we followed the "Sender Botanic del Passet de la Rabosa" path up to the main ridge. There were a number of information boards detailing the local flora. Just before the main ridge there was a short scramble to the Passet del Rabosa.

Once onto the ridge, we walked west to the summit of Aitana (1549m) where we met the other party. The "real" summit of Aitana is out of bounds as there is a military radar station there. This reminded us of Great Dun Fell in the Northern Pennines. We returned to the col, and then continued east along the ridge over the summit of El Penjo Molero.

Whilst walking along the ridge the cloud came rolling in, but we did manage glimpses of Puig Campana and its "notch", Campana is one of the more famous peaks in this area.

We followed the ridge until we came to a couple of cairns at 1058m, marking a path leading off the ridge. We followed this path through terraces of almond and olive trees back to Partagat.
