June 2010 - mostly Ok weather - best weather day was Thursday - so some epics and some gentle strolls.
Based at Ardhu cottages. The big house looked delightful - we had one of the cottages. Lovely setting and superb base for the week.
Watch out for the heron that comes to fish on the garden pond!!
Ardhu cottages nestle on the banks of Loch Linnhe in the village of Onich. Just 9 miles south of Fort William, Ben Nevis and 5 miles north from Glencoe.
On the way up we overnighted at Stirling, and spent the morning visiting
Inchmahome Priory in the Trossachs.
Sunday - we did Buachaille Etive Beag - Buachaille Etive Beag is often overlooked in favour of its more illustrious neighbour. It is, however, a fine ridge in its own
right with great views down Loch Etive and two Munros.
Monday - Blackmount from the Glencoe ski lifts - mixed weather and some heavily eroded paths under the ski lifts - easier to go up than come down, especially in heavy rain.
Tuesday - rest day - Glenco visitors lodge in the morning, an amble in the afternoon, but mostly playing with the new to us SLR Canon D40 camera.
Wednesday - Ballachulish Horseshoe - one that had evaded Jackie for over 20 years on account - a day of two halves weather wise - cloudy and bit cold to start
but ended in wonderful sunshine.
Thursday - Bidean nam Bian - one that neither of us had done and Dennis had wanted to do for a long time - wonderful day - super weather - views outstanding - only 7 miles, but
a very challenging 7 miles!!
Friday - Pap of FGlencoe - Jackie enticed Dennis with promises of great views but low cloud and rain meant we didn't much!!
