Selva Circular

Due to new boots we started the holiday in a relatively gentle fashion, starting late morning as we had attended the rep's meeting - this was worthwhile as there was good information on walking options as well as possible excursions.

A short distance from the hotel we joined the footpath and cycle that runs through Selva but soon after we turned off, taking a steep path through woodland to the top of a small hill called Sai Uedli, which overlooks Selva.

From the top of the hill we then took the path leading under the Dantercepies cable car, and on to the Vallelungo (Long Valley) where we then followed the valley path to the small chapel of St Silvester. From here we followed the Via Crucis (Way of the Crosses) path through forest towards Daunei, taking the short diversion to visit the ruin of Wolkenstein Castle. This is an excellent view point and well worth exploring.

As we approached Daunei we followed forestry paths and tracks to reach the Juac Hut (1903m) before descending to a small lake at a junction with path 1. We then followed path 1 down to the Col Raiser Cable Car valley station before returning to the hotel using the disused railway line path.

The walk a good introduction, allowing us to get our bearings as well as enjoying the wonderful scenary.
