Jackie's new boots were proving comfy and so some climbing today - plus poles had turned up - one of our holdalls had attempted To stay in Manchester and had arrived a few days late.

We caught the bus to Ortisei then took the cable car up to Furnes. From Furnes (1730m) we made a gradual climb on pleasant forest path to the viewpoint at Balest, followed by a steeper climb up through forest to a small plateau, and then onwards on west ridge up to the top of Pic. Caesar posed for photos at the top.

We descened the north ridge and then continued on paths down through the meadows below the Seceda. There are a lot of huts and farms selling refreshments in this area, we chose the Juac hut, indulging in a glass of wine and homemade cake before walking down to Selva.
