Aulon and the Lavedan Valley

You are at: Home > StLary walks > Aulan

A private bus took us to the start of the walk, close to the village of Aulon. The walk started along a forest track, and then followed paths up through the forest to gain the grassy ridge west of Cap de Pede. We walked west along the ridge to the summit of Le Serre (2017m).

We carried on along the ridge for a short while, before descending north and following paths around the slopes of the Crete de Hosses. After a while we reached the Cabane d'Aubeilth. This cabane was a small stone bothy that was very clean, and had a visitors book. We then walked down the valley for a welcome drink in Aulon, where we met the bus for the journey home. This was a very good walk, highly recommended, with lovely views of both the surrounding mountains including L'Arbison, and the distant peaks towards the border with Spain.
