| Today the bus took us to the village of Ens (1207m), where we set out for
the Lac de Coume, and then onto the Pic de la Hountas (1751m). There were good views down the Aure valley.
From the Pic de la Hounta we walked up the valley to a col on the Hitte Monte ridge
at 2179m.
Crossing the col the party continued on the path towards the Consaterre Lakes.
Unfortunately the party had been slow reaching the col so Ian decided to drop off this path, and pick up the path in the valley down to the Pont Tisne where the bus was waiting. Three of us decided that we would continue onto the Lakes, and then walk back down the valley and advised Ian not to wait for us at Pont Tisne, as we were happy to walk back to St Lary and the hotel. We continued onto the Lakes (2350m), unfortunately there was a heavy downpour so we didn't get any views. From the lakes we returned along the path to where we had left the main party, and descended to a path in the valley. The rain had stopped and it had cleared giving views down the valley. By the time we reached Pont Tisne the bus had left and so we continued down the road following the river to the village of Tramezaigues. From this village we crossed over the Aure river, and then followed the forestry track to Cadeilhan-Trachere, and then road and paths to Vigney and the hotel. It was a very enjoyable day, with a walking time of around 9 hours. |
