| Today was a rest day so we decided to do our own walk locally.
We followed the river to Vielle-Aure to pick up the GR10 path to Bourisp.
The path led up from Bourisp to the village of Estensan. We thought this was a more pleasant path that the one via Sailhen. The plan was to walk from Estensan to a viewpoint marked on the map as Coume Escure, as there were some tracks marked on the map. It all started so well as we left Estensen on a good track with pleasant views. After a while the path became overgrown, and so we attempted to make our way uphill on another track, but ended up fighting with brambles (they won), and we gave up takin a forestry track which brought us out on the road just below Azet. We picked up the GR10 and walked on through Azet up to a point just past the Gr de Goutes, which gave us a good view of the village. We then turned round and ambled back to the hotel via the GR10 path to Vielle-Aure. |
