Hornli Hut - not quite!

You are at: Home > Zermatt walks > Hornli Hut

We took the cable car to Schwarzsee (2585m) and from there the well signed path towards the Hornli Hut.

At about 2900m we came across an iced up part of the path. Jackie was rescued by a tall, cramponed American, at which point we decided to turn around. Although we had paid for return tickets on the cable car, as it was only midday so we walked down to Zermatt via Zum See, Blatten and the Gornerslucht.

We include some pictures from friends to show what we missed.

As the part of path that was iced was north facing, we would recommend walking crampons - however had Dennis been on his own he would have been able to continue. Jackie is nervous on slopes.
