It has been suggested to me that a couple of statistical charts might be of use to people planning to ride the End to End, so here's a rather feeble effort. I think they do show that my level of fitness rose throughout the trip, and that much of Scotland is in fact easier to cycle across than Devon and Cornwall.
Chart 1 shows my daily mileages and average speeds.
As you can see, the days with higher averages tended to be shorter days, and in
particular those when I was riding without luggage, while the slowest were the
early, hilly sections of the ride. It is hard to tell whether average speeds
rose after that because of the newly adjusted gearing or due to flatter terrain!

Chart 2 shows my average daily mileage and average speed over the 6 chapters
into which I have divided my journey. As you can see, daily mileages increased
constantly until my wind-down period on Orkney, while my average speeds first
picked up and then stabilised.
If there are any other stats which you think might be useful, drop me a line!
