History
I have owned the car for around 8 years. It was purchased as a
restoration project. The car has until recently been kept 300 miles away from
where I live. Work therefore progressed when I was able to get time off during
the summer and visit the friends where it was kept. It recently completed the
long journey back to my house without any problems, although there is still a
lot of work to be done. Some of the main jobs I have had to do on the car have
been:
 |
replace engine |
 |
replace gearbox |
 |
replace differential |
 |
replace driveshafts |
 |
fit poly bushes |
 |
replace fuel pump |
 |
replace radiator |
 |
replace heater matrix |
 |
fit new front wings |
 |
fit new boot floor |
 |
loads of welding! |
plus much, much more!.

The existing paintwork on the car is very poor, having cracked from heat
in many places. There are also numerous coats of paint on the car of
varying quality. The best option appeared to be to strip the paint and
start from scratch. Having tried own brand paint stripper from the local
DIY stores, I have now progressed onto the industrial strength stuff. It
still takes 2-3 goes to get down to the metal but it's a lot quicker than
the standard products. |

Headlamp panel rubbed down and painted. As it's not going to be seen I
decided to hand paint this with a couple of coats of good rust preventing
primer, followed by two coats of blue paint. This gives a good thick
coating of paint which should hopefully last a long time. |

Headlamp pods rubbed down and painted. Again these are hand painted with
rust preventing primer and paint. |
