spent the summer of 2009 on several projects:
1. Scafra Preludes Aleksander Szram
has now recorded the complete Scafra
Preludes
for
piano on the magnificent Fazioli at York University: I produced. The recordings
are almost
ready
(edited and assembled) and will soon be available as downloads and on CD from
this
website. More details soooon…
2. Smart Songs. I’ve
written a new song cycle for
female
voice and piano, (actually a birthday present
for
my wife Alison
Truefitt) settings of poems by
Elizabeth
Smart (By Grand Central Station I Sat
Down
and Wept: pictured
left). Alison and I are to premiere them
at
The October Gallery in London in November.
3. Big Black Car. This is the first thing Kerry
Lee Crabbe
and
I have done together for some years. Many of you
know
and love the songs we wrote together as young
men:
well, we’re at it again. Big Black Car will
be
premiered
at my February gig at Wavendon
(see
below).
