RIG Notation

Many of my scores (and increasingly those of others - colleagues, my students, COMA composers) utilise the RIG Notation system.

RIG is a user-friendly and transparent notation for improvised, semi-improvised and aleatoric music.
It can be used selectively and will interface seamlessly with conventional music notation.

All my scores have explanations in the Performance Notes of the relevant notations for that piece, but Dazzle Music publishes a complete treatment of the subject in the form of a booklet which you can obtain in printed or electronic form. Email me

I have also developed a TrueType Font   RIG.ttf   which you are welcome to, free of charge.
It contains all the symbols I use in RIG notation. Email me

NB 1   The RIG booklet exists as 2 identical files, RIG.doc (Microsoft Word format) and RIG.rtf (Rich Text format). The RIG font exists as a TrueType file readable by both PC and Mac, RIG.ttf (note the slight difference in file extensions).
NB 2   To correctly see the booklet in electronic form (RIG.doc or RIG.rtf) you will have to have the font RIG.ttf in your fonts folder, otherwise you'll get gibberish wherever there should be a RIG symbol.
NB 3   If you have Word 7 or above I strongly recommend you ask me for RIG.doc at 336KB rather than RIG.rtf at almost 20MB. If you don't have Word then you have no choice.
