It might sound daft, but having a big friendly dog around works wonders for overcoming so-called ‘red light syndrome’, where thanks to nerves, even the best rehearsed musicians can go all to hell the minute the record button is pressed…Spike is good at calming those nerves. He doesn’t ask much in return for his services, just a pat…and perhaps a bit of your bacon sarnie at lunchtime…
