This family line has been offered on a plate ! my Great Grandmother Alice Kate Busby was a beneficiary of the will of her great uncle Edward James Busby, the family has a copy of a document issued by the County Court in Banbury, which details all of Edward Jameses siblings and all of their known offspring.
One visit to the Oxford Archive enabled me to confirm all the information and to find the rest of the family. I also discovered a marriage license & bond for Alice Kate's Grandfather James Busby
Through a contact made on the Oxforshire rootsweb list I received a snippet of information which lead to discovering how James Busby met his death in 1848, the full text of the newspaper articles made macabre reading and the court reporting would certainly not be allowed today, however a statement made by James B. shortly before he died gives a broad outline
According to the marriage license James was a Paper Mould Maker, a little known but major industry in the village of North Newington being paper manufacture, later James seems to have been employed as a Keeper at Broughton Castle nearby. James married Susannah Moorby, daughter of Edward Moorby an Inn Keeper (sensible chap).
Jameses son Richard married another Busby (Selina) - which of course lead to great speculation, but at the moment I can find no link between the two families, Selina was the daughter of William Busby a tailor of Calthorpe Lane in Banbury. Richard moved to Cripplegate in London where he set up as a House Painter.
James B. appears in Broughton quite suddenly in 1812 when he married Susannah, William appears in Banbury at his first marriage ( Selina was from his second).
The name BUSBY is sometimes spelt BUSBEE depending on who was writing it down
