LONDON--The EU Commission expects 2007/08 grain production in the EU-27 to total 275.3 mln t after 266.1 mln t in the year before. This figure includes 122.1 (117.8) mln t of wheat, 8.6 (8.5) mln t of durum, 58.6 (56.2) mln t of barley, 54.9 (55.5) mln t of corn and 7.9 (6.5) mln t of rye. Rapeseed production is estimated at 17.6 (15.9) mln t, sunseed output at 6.4 (6.7) mln t, and soybean output at 1.2 (1.2) mln t. Meanwhile, Oil World estimates the 2007/08 rapeseed production in the EU-27 slightly higher than the Commission at 18.32 mln t., although this is lower than last month's estimate due to extreme weather conditions in April and May, particularly in Germany. They peg production
in Germany at 5.30 (5.34) mln t, in France at 5.26 (4.13) mln t, and in
Poland at 1.82 (1.63) mln t. Imports may increase to 83,000 (50,000) t
and exports to 20,000 (9,000) t. Crush is forecast at 17.80 (15.79) mln
t and ending stocks at 1.10 (1.05) mln t. |
