The Moggies

A page dedicated to our cats, and some of their kittens- and some links to other excellent catty sites (go to the bottom of the page for these)

We currently have four cats, most of whom have daft names. They are (in order of seniority) Muffy, Cherie, Tony and Holly. We got the Tony and Cherie on Election Day 1997, hence the names. In 1998 Cherie and Tony had kittens, who we named Patch, Ginge, Pipsqueak and Flick. All the kittens have left home now and are living in the lap of luxury in Bristol and Berkeley. Holly came from Holly Hedge animal sanctuary

Muffy

Muffy is now the senior mog, joining the team in 1991. Totally soppy! All visitors to the house are subjected to close examination by Muffy, and usually leave covered in discarded fur.

Cherie and Tigsie

The dynamic duo. We got them on election day in 1997 and decided to call them Tony and Cherie. Her name has stuck, but he is a little tiger, hence his more usual name. She is mad, he is soppy as anything. As you can see, Cherie is the IT specialst amongst the feline contingent! The piccie to the right is of Tigsie following his accident (broken pelvis). We had to keep him confined for 4 weeks whilst the bones healed, and the best place we could find for him was in the shower!

Holly (aka "Kitler")

Holly is the latest addition to the brood. She's noisy, sticks her nose into everything, totally lovable (unless you are Cherie, in which case its "Kill on Sight"!) She has a black splodge under her nose and has a strange fixation with Poland on the kid's globe. Her nickname is therefore no surprise!

Kitler displaying alien tendencies :)

The Kitz

This is 'Pipsqueak', one of Cherie's four kittens. The others were Flick (who with Pip went to live with our friend Erica), Patch and Ginge.

In Memoriam

Scruffy

Scruffy was "Senior Mog", and was named after me by Liz (cheeky!) We got her from a farm in Fareham in 1988. Scruffy tended to wander, so we only saw her rarely in the evenings. She developed a bad attitude and growled at the others, but they seemed to get along well anyway. Scruffy fought her last battle with a car in 1996 whilst I was away at UCL. It was a battle that, unfortunately, she did not win.

Trubsie

Trubsie (aka Fluffy) came from Royal Leamington Spa. We weren't sure of his exact lineage, but there seemed to be some Burmese or something like that in him from somewhere. Trubsie (so called because, in his younger days he was always in trouble) passed on in 2005. His proudest moment was catching and bringing home a fried egg!

Oscar

Finally, here is a picture of Oscar, David's adopted Ne-Ne, or Hawaian Goose. Oscar lives at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust site at Slimbridge, Gloucestershire (about half an hour's drive away from here). Oscar takes after his adopted "dad" in that he likes eating and sleeping, and can be something of a grouch, but he's not very well (getting old) and has been moved to the Gosling Pen (so we can't visit him any more)
