Welcome to my web site.

I am an amateur photographer from Easterhouse in Glasgow and I have published these pages to exhibit some of my images.

My interest in photography began with my trips to the Scottish highlands where I have been climbing the 'Munros' for over twenty years in all seasons enjoying all the beauty that the Scottish landscape has to offer. I always carried a compact camera to document my days walking in the mountains but it was noDavid Dalziel. (Photo by John Carroll)t until I bought a computer, which was bundled with a flatbed scanner that my interest really took off.

I started by scanning photographs of my trips to e-mail to friends and I soon discovered digital imaging. I then began surfing photographic web sites viewing other photographer's work. Inspired by this I bought a second hand Nikon FM2 manual camera with a 50mm lens. Soon after I enrolled for an evening class in basic photography where I learned how to develop and print black and white photographs. Watching my first image appear in the class darkroom was a magic moment and I was then hooked on photography.

I shoot slide film for about 99% of my work now but I do not develop my film at home, as I find it more convenient to have my slides processed by a lab. I then scan them into my computer and use the digital darkroom to create prints. Easterhouse Phoenix. Click for larger image.

I am a member of East Kilbride Camera Club where I submit slides and prints for club competitions. Before joining, I had never seen any of my slides projected onto screen, as I was only previously able to view them on my computer. Seeing my slides projected for the first time at the club was a similar experience to watching my first image appear in the darkroom. This convinced me to stick with slide film and I now have my own projector and screen to view my photographs at home.

My interest is mainly landscapes and seascapes but I am equally inspired wandering around Glasgow and Edinburgh with my camera. My galleries are just a selection of my favourite images taken in the past few years and include a variety of subjects.

I hope that you enjoy viewing my images and thanks for taking time to visit my site.
