Fox Two! Optional Rules

1. Formation Flying

At the beginning of a game aircraft may be organised into flights of up to 4 aircraft. One aircraft in the flight is designated the Formation Leader (usually the most experienced pilot in the formation).

An aircraft is considered to be "In Formation" if, during the Initiative Phase, it meets the following criteria:

1) it is within 10cm of its Formation Leader
2) it is in the ‘C’ arc of the Visual Detection Circle Arc of its Formation Leader
3) it is facing within 30° (1 turn) of its Formation Leader

When determining Initiative, all aircraft in formation with their Formation Leader can use the initiative of the Formation Leader for movement.

Formations of 4 aircraft may be divided into Flights of 2 aircraft. One Flight Leader is designated the Formation Leader. In this case the formation uses the Initiative rating of the Formation Leader whilst all aircraft meet criteria 1 to 3 above. If the Formation splits into its two Flights the wingman of each Flight Leader is "In Formation" if criteria 1 to 3 are met, and may therefore use the initiative of the Flight Leader for movement.

(Thanks to David Schueler of Seattle, USA for suggesting this additional rule)
