History was made today in Blackpool as the Union's new rule book was
approved by a margin of more than four to one.

The decision means that AEEU and MSF now enter the final stage of their
merger and paves the way for joint EC elections in the autumn.

800 delegates from AEEU and MSF sections took part in the debate, which
was described by Joint General Secretary Derek Simpson as 'mature'.
The special one day joint conference was also addressed by Roger Lyons, MSF General Secretary.
