Hot weather and not much wind forecast, but a great turnout of 19 Solos arrived at Forfar Loch for what was for many a first visit.
Ripples on the water and the promise of a gentle breeze from the East kept hopes up and racing started on schedule.
Trying to work out the massive wind shifts and at the same time keep away from the dreaded hard rock zone turned out to quite demanding.
However racing was close and exciting with places changing constantly. One boat drifted into the reeds for a thankfully soft landing, and a couple of others capsized as the sea breeze came in (yes, sea breeze in Forfar!). With abundant wild fowl and a commanding view over the racing area Forfar is a good venue for support/spectators.
Kevan Gibb (LargoBaySC) won the first race, with second place being 'just the ticket' for Richard Davies (CCCBardowie) and Barry McLean (LochArdSC) third. Geoff Henstridge (PentlandFirth) won race two just a couple of boat lengths ahead of Kevan, with Barrie third. After a break to cool off race three started, again Geoff and Kevan sailed a very close race finishing in that order with Gordon Tosh (MontroseSC) third.
A very well run event, thanks to Forfar SC.
