Kinghorn Traveller 10-June-2006

Hot weather for Scotland in June, but a haar on the East Coast. The haar was not too thick, but it did look pretty rough from the shelter of the harbour dinghy park, steep breaking waves and just a narrow sheltered slot to launch from. The force 4E wind looked to be OK though.

Thirteen Solos had gathered and gamely rigged up, launched one by one, and set out into the rough conditions. The Committee Boat was tossed around, and didn't look a nice place to be! The three rescue boats set about laying the course, but that wind was increasing to possibly force 6E. It soon became apparent that a quick blast in the rough seas was all that was going to happen as Solos one by one decided to head for shore, and race officer Steven Stead decided to abandon for safety reasons.
