JUNE 2009 UPDATE:
I decided to hang up my concert promoting shoes to concentrate more on the writing, review, radio, media and journalistic sides of what I do, as I see that as a way of helping get the bands and artists noticed a lot more than just sticking gigs on. Besides, I've been doing it on and off for 5 years, putting unsigned bands on at nearly every main venue in the city. So, on August 8th, the concert promotions side of Dead Earnest will end.
I get a lot of people pointing out that what I write tends to be wholly enthusiastic and that they never get to read anything critical. Well, not wholly true, although I get the point. I don't like to be negative unless I can be constructive, but maybe when a band just leaves me feeling bored rigid, maybe I should say so......
OCT 2011 UPDATE:
Due to space restrictions in terms of size of website with the server I use, I've had to remove about 80% of the site over the past two years just so that I can continue to list all the CD and download reviews. One of the major casualties of this has been the removal of my concert reviews from the very first gig until now. Suffice to say that the archive is still in tact and that one day it will return for all to see, as much a slice of musical history as anything. But, for now, we can only go back so far....
