BEATNIC PRESTIGE - Good To Go CD-EP

This second EP is great in that it showcases three sides to the talented Dunfermline band. The lead studio track bursts into being with a decided nod towards a contemporary answer to classic The Jam & The Who as the guitars twang and riff, the solid, choppy rhythms provide an irresistible sea of beats, while the vocal really delivers the goods with the flaming passion of a Weller or a Daltrey. But it possesses a modern depth, an intensity, a density and a spark that neither of the two aforementioned bands had, and, although short, is razor sharp, addictive and repeat playable. Next up is a live version of “The Happy Man” and here the band rock and cook a bit more powerfully, still with the influences firmly on their sleeves, as a real modern indie-mod anthem erupts with pace, strident rhythms and strong guitars, the middle instrumental break really thundering along before it's back into that infectious verse-as-chorus before this searing guitar break cuts through with razor sharp accuracy and the whole thing motors to the end, showing just why this band are such a strong draw when it comes to live concerts. Things end with “The Reply”, a short acoustic piece delivered with passion and a lyrical humour that makes you smile. So, three quality songs, three different settings, all enjoyable, all consistent and all played with fire, enthusiasm, passion and strength, making for a fine second outing.
