DUNDEE LIVE - BANDS TO WATCH!!

POSE VICTORIUS-Infiltrate CD-EP

It begins like something heading out at you from the Wild West as a gallop of rhythms and riffs thunders in, drums clattering and guitars underpinning, as the vocalist – not with a cry of “hi ho silver” but “1-2-3-4” - drives into town with intent and purpose. The lead guitar rings out its presence with a sky-high melody as the pace continues and the singer unleashes a soaring set of verses with a wondrously accented voice, rising and falling into verses and choruses that provide the meat on the bones. The song bounces along in traditional indie fashion, the harmonies on parts of the verses, serving as a neat forerunner for the rising lead vocals an accompanying background wordless harmonies as the rhythm section crashes and drives, the rhythm and lead guitar river eventually culminating in a red hot lead break as the stagecoach comes to a halt, the singer gets off still singing, then the band drive off into the distance while he's still there giving the song his all – superb!! “It's Up To You Too” starts more sedately with harpsichord-like guitar chords on top of which are added a ringing hi-register lead guitar, deep and pounding bass, crunch of drumming and this bouncing blistering sea of beats and rhythms and melodies are topped off with an anguished vocal as the whole thing gathers intensity and this vast expanse of guitars spreads across the horizon, shards of lead breaks shattering off at intervals as the rhythm section propel it all magnificently, the endless horizon of guitars is always there and the vocals fly high above it all on an impassioned delivery of a song where the verses are all and choruses aren't necessary. The EP ends with “Hold Your Head High”, an acoustic track that relaxes you with some crisply strummed guitar work on top of a distant bass undercurrent and what would appear to be a kind of humming guitar line, as the vocalist delivers the song with pathos, accompanied by intermittent harmonies for extra textural effect, as a really gorgeous song unfolds, the more than acceptable face of Scottish acoustic indie songwriting. This shows a fine band at work over three excellent tracks and the sort of thing that you not only want to hear over agin but want to hear more of and see live as well – draws you in and leaves you wanting more...
