John Dean has been a journalist since 1980. In May 1998 he was named
North-East Freelance Journalist of the Year for a portfolio of work which
included environmental and law and order affairs. In both 1999 and 2000
he was named North-East Environmental Reporter of the Year.
John is passionate about the environment and conservation issues. He hopes his work goes some small way to preserving our wildlife and creating a better place for us all to live. John's interests also include ornithology, another area in which he is a respected journalist.
John is also proprietor of Scarsdale Books (Publishing Services), a contract publishing company.
Before he went freelance he held posts including Deputy News Editor of The Northern Echo, Chief Reporter at The Sunderland Echo and Crime Reporter with the Hull Daily Mail.
