I drive over 50,000 miles a year, I can admit to a few accidents, but given my mileage you would expect that.

In fact the day after I got a new car I drove up someone's back-end. I could (and do) claim extenuating circumstances.
The other car had stopped just over the brow of a blind hill, 200 yards behind a queue of traffic.
I saw the queue ahead, but not the imbecile just in front. In addition the car directly behind me drove into my back-end.
He also said he'd seen the queue ahead but not expected the other car.
The driver of the car I hit said he was deciding whether to turn round or not.

So I'm not perfect !

Another update.. I've spent a week driving around Lisbon in Portugal. .... There the cars are all very small, I had a 307,
quite a nice 'little car' (I drive a Mondeo Estate or a Freelander normally).

The 'I' ways are quite good, a lot of concrete surfaces, noisy and scary in the rain (luckily it doesn't rain much), but
where I was was a 'BIT' hilly, it was in the National Park above Sintra, it was like driving in a maze, the car was
just under 6 feet wide, most of the roads (lanes, tracks, footpaths ?) were just over 10 feet. If there was a car
coming towards you and no passing pace you bothh had to drop into the gutters.

Anyway no bumps, very little scares, but the brand new 307 was well shook around. I'd had never got the Mondeo ~
round some of the corners !

I've an update...... I've just been to Gozo and Malta, UK drivers are experts compared to the islanders !!!!!!!!!!!!

The roads are little better than cart tracks, the cars vary from the decrepit to the wheels plus body status.
Indicators, what are they? Road signs.. ha ha .. Road markings .. double whites .... as if.. Traffic lights... red = go, green = go faster
Lane discipline...don't make me laugh, its a circus !!!!

One saving grace, they are S**T drivers and provided you have an ounce of guts, lifes a breeze !!!

Middle lane morons (rule 117)

No lane discipline on roundabouts

Hat wearers (especially baseball caps)

Mobile phones with no hands free (especially big car drivers, 50K on a car, can't spend Ł150 on a hands free!)

800cc Novas, Fiestas, etc with drain pipes for exhausts

Faddy step thru' scooters buzzing around

Speed limited wagons overtaking

4x4s on the school run

The school run !
