Well, just to report that we had a brilliant day yesterday (Saturday 3rd March). The weather was good for us and the help we got was fantastic. We have cleared away the debris from under the hedgerow and over in the small copse in the Hambleton View/Sutton Road area from Newlands Court towards the town. Now that we have got this tidied up it would be great to keep it that way so we're asking that HDC include this on the visit by the official HDC clean up operative! HDC are on a roll now and it will be such a great coup for the Council - please (HDC) don't let these good volunteers down. On the subject of the hedge, it would be good if HDC could cut it back, at least the sides, as is starting to encroach onto the footpath and could cause a nasty incident if someone got a branch in their eyes? The boys who helped also want to see some bulbs down there (September would be the time to do that). It wouldn't be feasible now as the hedge is so overgrown that you wouldn't get to the grass very easily. Thirsk in Bloom group is keen to carry on the good work, not only on the pathway but also in the area over the road - the bank leading up to Sutton Road. It isn't something that will happen overnight and yet it would be beneficial to the town and the residents to make something of the area.
