Note the names are without fail mentioned as Borman in the
original records (the Boraman connection came from the Mormon records).
Hannah is buried in Belchford churchyard on the right of
the entrance gate by the entrance door.
Grave inscription is “Hannah, daughter of Richard and Elizabeth
Borman, May 7th 1807, wife of John Pigot, aged 22 yrs”
Elizabeth is also buried in Belchford churchyard. Grave inscription is “Elizabeth Borman
who bid adieu to Time 27th day of Jan 1839 aged 87 yrs, A sinner
saved by sovereign grace” It is
also one of the few stones in the graveyard that has a substantial rhyming
epitaph:
She ranges on the heavenly plains,
And sings with meek heart melting strains,
And now her soul begins to prove
The heights and depths of Jesus love.
He cheers with an eternal smile,
She sings Hosannas all the while,
Or overwhelmed with rapture sweet,
Sinks down adoring at His feet.
Richard is mentioned in 1800 as being one of the owners
of lands in Belchford with “rights of common user”.
An entry in the village workhouse poor law administration
shows “Pade to Mrs Borman for nursing Thos. Holmes wife 4s 0d”
