Distribution of BARTONs 1881 Census

The counties are colour coded according to the number of BARTONs recorded in the census. These vary from white (0) to red (over 100) and purple (over 1000). The numbers are displayed.
BARTONs are recorded in all the English counties but the two main concentrations are in the north (Lancashire & Yorkshire with nearly 5000) and the south-east (over 5000).
Scotland has more than 500 BARTONs with the majority being found in Lanarkshire, in particular Glasgow.
