Early MIDDLEBROOK references
The earliest reference to a MIDDLEBROOK that I have come across was in the 14th century:
1334 Thomas de MIDDELBROKE (Subsidy Rolls for Kent).
These come from The Yorkshire Biographical Database of the York Minster Library & Archives:
1510 Thomas MIDDLEBROOK of Craven (Muster Roll)
1522 John MIDDLEBROOK of Craven (Lay Subsidy)
1546 Christopher MIDDLEBROOK Deanery of Doncaster (Chantry Survey)
1553 William MYDELBROKE of Carleton (Will)
There are many 16th century references in the IGI. Here are just a few:
1554 The birth of James MIDDLEBROCK at Aldborough, Yorkshire.
19/05/1563 The baptism, at South Stoke in Lincolnshire, of Myghell MEDYLBROKE.
08/10/1582 The marriage, at Keighley in Yorkshire, of Izabell MIDLEBROOK & Anthonie WALKER.
