Early PLANK references
The earliest reference to a PLANK that I have come across is in the 13th century:
1288 Maud de la PLANK (Calendar of Inquisitiones post mortem for Wiltshire).
There are some 16th century references in the IGI. Here are a few:
16/04/1543 The marriage, at Therfield in Hertfordshire, of Richard HASSARD & Elizabeth PLANKE.
Two daughters of Rogeri PLANKE, Katrina & Agnis, were baptised at Therfield in Hertfordshire, in 1551 & 1556.
06/1567 The marriage, at Ashen in Essex, of William SMITH & Eleanor PLANK. Both were of Ashen.
